We strongly believe in supporting our international students to ensure they are fully integrated into everyday student life at our sites.

We wish to safeguard and continuously improve the quality of the support we offer our international students. Hence we voluntarily endorse the
National Code of Conduct for German Universities regarding
International Students
developed by the German Rectors’ Conference (Hochschulrektorenkonferenz, HRK) and the German Academic Exchange Service (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst, DAAD).

The following pages contain information on our services for international students. At the start of every semester, we offer an orientation programme to help students find their bearings at FHWS and in Würzburg/Schweinfurt as quickly as possible and to get to know their fellow students before the semester starts. During the semester, we offer a variety of cultural training events. We organise trips and company visits as well as intercultural workshops to allow students to learn more about Germany, its culture, and its people.

Two weeks before the start of each semester, we organise an orientation programme for our new international students.

We have developed a varied programme, which will help you to settle in at FHWS and in Germany. You will be able to participate in preparatory German courses, intercultural training, and introductory maths courses. We will also help you to open a German bank account, accompany you to the Registration Office for Foreigners (Ausländerbehörde), and provide information on health and liability insurance. We naturally also organise a number of evening events to allow you to get to know your fellow students before the semester starts.

You have the option of participating in the FHWS buddy programme, too. Buddies are other students at FHWS who help international students to take care of relating to their studies and everyday student life. Allowing you to settle in at FHWS even more quickly, build your social network, and establish contact with your German fellow students. You will receive an email from us about the orientation programme before you arrive.

We offer a diverse selection of cultural events and support services during your studies. These range from leisure trips to factory tours and company visits. We also run workshops to improve your understanding of everyday university and working life in Germany. A special information point (i-point) has moreover been set up at each of our sites, which is staffed by members of the FHWS International team during set office hours to answer any questions international students may have.
