Strategy and Self-Commitment
For FHWS, internationalisation helps to raise the university’s profile. To assure quality, FHWS has committed in a contract to supporting the requirements of both national and international declarations in the field of international higher education. You will find more information on the internationalisation strategy at FHWS and associated self-commitment here.
National Code of Conduct for German Universities regarding International Students
By signing the National Code of Conduct for German Universities regarding International Students, we commit to offering our international students support tailored specifically to their individual needs. This code of conduct was developed by the German Rectors’ Conference (Hochschulrektorenkonferenz, HRK) and the German Academic Exchange Service (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst, DAAD). It aims to safeguard and improve the quality of support for international students at German universities.
You can read more about the National Code of Conduct for German Universities

FHWS European Policy Statement
All higher education institutions wishing to participate in the 2014–2020 EU programme for education, training, youth and sport must outline their commitment to a general internationalisation strategy and particularly with regard to the definition and implementation of mobility activities within Erasmus+ in a European Policy Statement (EPS). View the FHWS European Policy Statement here.
Erasmus Charter for Higher Education 2014–2020
The Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE) is awarded by the European Commission to higher education institutions actively involved in the Erasmus+ programme. By signing this charter, FHWS commits to complying with all of the conditions for successful implementation of the programme aims. The original ECHE certificate awarded to FHWS in 2014 can be viewed in the International Office or as a scan.
“Internationalisation of Universities” audit by the HRK
The “Internationalisation of Universities” audit by the German Rectors’ Conference (Hochschulrektorenkonferenz, HRK) provides targeted support for German higher education institutions striving to develop/reinforce their international profile. Building on the analysis of the existing internationalisation standards, specific recommendations for further internationalisation are developed in all relevant fields of action. FHWS resolved to complete an audit in 2016.
